Christy Rochon
executive director
Born and raised in Athens, Christy comes from a very musical family. Her family owned and managed Chick Music for decades.

While pursing a degree in Education from UGA, Christy continued her love of music. She enjoyed singing in the UGA Women’s Glee Club and teaching preschool piano classes. After graduation, Christy returned to the store to help her mother and siblings run the business. She then joined the Athens Music Teachers Association as Membership Chair where she helped the membership more than double in just a few years. During her 10 years as Chair, she helped organize and manage 2 Monster Concerts consisting of 4 pianos and up to 8 teachers on stage for each song.

At Chick Music, she took over the music department and taught preschool music classes. She helped establish the teaching studios where she managed schedules for 18 teachers and over 175 students before the studios were forced to close due to the pandemic in 2020. She also continued to sing in church choirs and ensembles as well as playing handbells in various choirs in the area.
Since the store closed in 2021, Christy has been busy creating events to support small businesses in the Athens area. She enjoys crafting and spending time with her husband Matt.
