Nada Long is a busy musician, wife, mother & Nonna. She has a degree in Vocal Music Education from Oklahoma City University & did Master’s work in Journalism at the University of Oklahoma.
Nada is currently the director of worship & music at McKendree UMC in Lawrenceville, GA and has worked in United Methodist churches for the past 30 years. Early in her musical career, Nada taught music in public schools from 1978 to 1987. Nada helped create a community chorus called Atlanta Sings! which she directed from 1988 to 1996. She also sang with a wedding band from 1988 to 1993. She taught private voice lessons for many years.
From 2010 to 2012, Nada used her musical talent to reach the homeless. She led singing with the women of the Atlanta Day Shelter 2 mornings each month and worked with the after school program of the City of Refuge weekly. Hearing the beautiful voices & seeing the smiles of both groups gave her much joy.
Nada played keyboard with the Metro Jazz Club from 2010 to 2018. Metro Jazz Club is a 17-piece swing band which performs & plays for dances all over Atlanta.
Nada is the mother of Natalie Smith who is also a musician and creator of Heart Music. Natalie is a professional flutist & is married to Brian Smith who is a classical guitarist. They are the parents of 2 of Nada’s granddaughters, Lorelei & Sylvia.
Nada also has a son, Keith Clements, who has a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech and works for NASA in Huntsville, AL. Keith is married to Dr. Tiffany Clements who is an astronomer working for a NASA contractor. They are the parents of Nada’s other granddaughter, Arty.
Nada is married to Zip Long, a retired United Methodist pastor who now is a Consulting Pastor working with churches helping them raise money. Zip and Nada are both avid supporters of Heart Music.
