I grew up in Augusta, GA spending the majority of my childhood being outside as much as possible either on a sailboat or playing in the woods. After graduating high school, I attended the University of Georgia where I was captain of the UGA sailing team and earned a BBA in Finance. After graduating, I moved to Charlotte, NC to help form the Lake Norman Community Sailing Program. I returned to Athens, GA in 2012 to complete coursework at UGA in Accounting and finish my CPA. During that time, Natalie, Brian and their girls moved in just a few doors down from my wife and me. We soon became accustomed to impromptu music nights on the neighborhood court. While I wasn’t able to contribute much more than a hum, whistle or offbeat pursuit on the drums, it was always a welcome place to come learn and experience music in a community setting.
My wife and I left Athens and moved to Atlanta for five years to pursue careers. We regularly visited during this period and missed the spirit amongst our friends on the Eastside of Athens. In 2018, we had the opportunity to move back into Green Acres with our growing family. Soon after returning to Athens, we re-connected with Natalie and Brian and learned of the vision for HEART Music and promised to help in any way possible.
It’s been a pleasure to witness the musical talent within Athens converge and develop over the past few months. I couldn’t be more excited to see how HEART Music will be able to aid our local schools, youth and music community!
