Upright Bassist, Vocalist, and Songwriter, Andrea DeMarcus, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and can’t remember a time when she wasn’t singing. Early piano lessons and church choirs spurred her on until she found her heart’s calling, the Upright Bass. After graduating from Juilliard in 2010 with a performance degree, she was drawn to a more creative side of music and found herself in Athens, Georgia. This eclectic and artistic community supported her new sound in Cicada Rhythm, the band she started with her now husband, Dave Kirslis. Andrea enjoys the freedom and excitement of touring and playing her own blend of American music. She loves adding her sound to local studio recording projects, enjoys teaching privately, and is currently the lead instructor for Camp Amped at Nuci’s Space.
