HEART Youth Symphony Details

Auditions will be conducted by video submission.​

Applicants will be notified of acceptance by the middle of August.

Instructions for the video submission: 

*Please make sure that the applicant's full head, torso and instrument are in the frame.

Create an unlisted YouTube video containing:

1) Major scales for middle school All State Band and Orchestra auditions 

Strings:

Violin - G and A major - at least 2 octaves

Viola and Cello - C and D major - at least 2 octaves

Double Bass - F and G major 2 octaves 

Woodwinds and brass:

Concert F, Bb, Eb, Ab

Full range chromatic scale

Percussion:

Concert F, Bb, Eb, Ab on mallet instrument of choice

2) A 2-3 min solo of the student's choosing

Please do not play portions of band or orchestra music. If you need help finding a solo, please ask your private teacher or your school band/orchestra director.

**Percussion may choose two shorter solos and must include two different instruments (mallets and timpani, snare and timpani, mallets and snare, timpani and snare).
