Taniesha Pooser

Taniesha M. Pooser is a passionate musician who has served as an orchestra teacher for thirteen years. From teaching in the classroom in Gwinnett County Public Schools, Ms. Pooser has nurtured the talents of young budding musicians to professional educators. Her dedication to fostering artistry, creativity, and perseverance in every ensemble she encounters has become contagious and nationally acquired. Ms. Pooser’s commitment extends beyond the classroom as she is an active presenter at national conventions and conductor for honor and all-state orchestras. Ms. Pooser’s hard work in the classroom and community was recognized and celebrated as she was named Gwinnett County’s 2022 Middle School Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Pooser holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, where she honed her skills as a bassist, conductor, and educator. As a life-long learner, she earned her master’s degree in education from Columbia College, her education specialist degree in music education from Piedmont College, and her Education Leadership certification from Kennesaw State University. Her commitment to music education has also awarded her the 2023 Presidential Award for Outstanding Service from the American String Teacher Association for the work she has done to increase access to string education for all students. Her passion, expertise and love for young musicians continues to inspire and cultivate a shared vision; that music education goes beyond notes and technique, but it shapes character, resilience and creativity without boundaries.
